The JISC TechDis Service is the leading educational advisory service, working across the UK, in the fields of accessibility and inclusion. Their mission is to support the education sector in achieving greater accessibility and inclusion by stimulating innovation and providing expert advice and guidance on disability and technology.

Since 2005, Hark has created a series of easy-to-use fully accessible multimedia resources, enabling users to swiftly access the wealth of information through a simple navigation system. Full of essential information and engaging materials, each self-contained pack is structured to guide users through the content and facilitate delivery to wider audiences. Delivered on both CD-Rom and via the JISC TechDis website, Hark has created:

Staff Packs (2005)

To assist staff development programmes and to facilitate the changes required by recent disability legislation, TechDis produced a series of self-supporting staff development packs, containing easily adaptable resources designed for use within staff development courses or processes. Distribution: 9,000 (2005)

Updated in 2006 (further 3000 CDs)

Accessibility Essentials Guides (2006 , 2007)

The four JISC TechDis Accessibility Essentials Guides are designed to provide step-by-step information on producing documents and presentations in a more accessible manner.

  • Making the most of PDFs
  • Writing accessibly with Microsoft® Word
  • Creating Accessible presentations with Microsoft® PowerPoint
  • Amending the look and feel of electronic material to enable it to be read in a style which suits the reader, their audience or the context in which it is used.

Distribution: 10,000 copies for each of the CDs with a re-run of 10,000 copies for two of the Guides.

 

Upwardly mobile – Getting Started in Inclusive M-Learning, (Nov 2008) 

Designed to provide information on the accessibility pros and cons of mobile learning this multimedia resource assists tutors, lecturers and teachers to anticipate the benefits and barriers of different m-learning approaches in order to maximise the benefits for all learners. Distribution 5,000

Each of these CD-Roms was supported by a print publication.
