Curating and Enriching Your Product Information

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

A new customer coming onboard is always an exciting time for us! Personally, I’m always curious to find out what type of products they sell as well as checking out their exciting features, benefits, and technologies!

In the Data Services team, we like to imagine ourselves as both architects and curators at the same time, where it’s our responsibility to plan the structure in which to store your supplied product data and, once built, maintain the quality of your product content and enrich it so that it can be shared with a wider audience.

Here at Hark, it’s important to us to provide you with flexibility, convenience, and peace of mind. Our main objective is to work around what you want and what you need! We therefore tailor aHub, our cloud-based product management platform, to match your product information, as opposed to you having to adhere to a rigid, default template from us.  We know that the “one size fits all” approach very rarely works as every customer is different. Essentially, aHub works around you!

Whatever format you choose to send us your product data, price sheets or digital asset materials in, we will collate this and implement it into aHub.

During the initial aHub set-up there are a number of factors that we need to consider before we even think about implementing data. We’re all about forward planning and thinking!  For example:

  1. Which outputs do you require > aWorkbook, aViewPro or both?

  2. How is your data structured > at Style or SKU Level?

  3. How is your source data provided, and is it supplied in a consistent format?

  4. Which product information is seasonal or non-seasonal? E.g. Assets, Descriptions

  5. Do you require language specific catalogues/content?

  6. How would you like information to be displayed – should we match what’s on your website or even a print PDF catalogue?

  7. Is integration required?

  8. Will there be regular updates?

All of this information is gathered during onboarding conversations with our Projects team, so we can always be sure that we have everything we need before starting to configure aHub.

Quality control and attention to detail is also essential to us. I think we can all agree that nothing is worse than having data which is incorrect and inaccurate e.g., spelling mistakes, errors and inconsistencies and mismatches between different data sources. Hey, it happens!  But never fear – that’s what we’re here for.

Once we have done an initial review of your data, we will offer feedback and recommendations on ways that we can cleanse and enrich it and will also undoubtedly have questions in relation to additional ways that the content can be used. We feel that this is most important when collaborating with you, so that you can get the best out of your data!

No matter what, we are always on hand to give advice and make suggestions, and also to provide you with assurance that we will curate and enhance your content ready to publish to your chosen outputs. Being adaptable and considering your needs and wants is important to us because after all, great software alone is not enough.
